India's fiscal deficit during the seven months to October was Rs 4.24 trillion (USD 61.91 billion), or 79.3 percent of the budgeted target for the fiscal year ending in March 2017, government data showed on Wednesday.
Fiscal deficit in the first four months of the current financial year stood at Rs 3.93 lakh crore, or 73.3 percent of the Budget estimates for 2016-17.
Reflecting tight financial position of the central government, fiscal deficit stood at Rs 5.25 lakh crore as of November-end almost touched 99 percent of the full year target of Rs 5.31 lakh crore.
