 Nic Pothas will be in charge of West Indies side during the tour of Bangladesh.

South African Pothas briefly coached Sri Lanka until Chandika Hathurusingha was hired as head coach in December.

Sri Lanka departed for Bangladesh without fielding coach Nic Pothas after he refused to be a part of the touring team over a dispute with the management.

The 44-year-old Pothas said that the Indian team under Kohli seemed to have covered all their bases.

Asked whether Lanka had faltered in choosing the combination, Pothas, who took over as coach from fellow South African Graham Ford, said the strategy was good but the loss of two wickets in one over hurt them.

The coach shielded Niroshan Dickwella, whose irresponsible shot selection led to a batting collapse with Sri Lanka losing six wickets for 45 runs.

India had whitewashed Sri Lanka in all formats - three Tests, five ODIs and one T20I -- when they toured the Island nation in July-September.

The islanders were handed a drubbing on home soil against India, losing all nine games against the formidable tourists in a humiliating whitewash across all three formats of the game.

Pothas said it was a competitive total, even if Lanka were few runs short.

Lankan cricket has seen legends like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene retiring in quick succession.

Pothas also said that while the defeat was embarrassing, he still backs his players to come good eventually.
