The horrifying gang-rape and subsequent death of Nirbhaya in a moving bus in December 2012 shocked the nation.

Tihar Jail authorities have written a letter to all the four convicts in Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case to have a final meeting with their family members.

Earlier in the day, the court heard a plea seeking the issuance of fresh death warrants against all the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gangrape and murder case. Tihar Jail`s law officer handed over a status report to the court.

A bench of Justices R Banumathi, Ashok Bhushan and AS Bopanna is expected to pass orders at around 2 pm today on Sharma's plea. The bench heard arguments for nearly two hours on behalf of Sharma and the Union of India and NCT of Delhi.

A Delhi court had on January 31 stayed for an indefinite period, the death warrants issued against the four death row convicts -- Akshay, Pawan, Mukesh and Vinay.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear the petition of a death row convict in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case, seeking the review of the 2017 judgement of the SC upholding his death penalty. A bench will hear the review plea filed by Akshay Kumar Singh, who through his lawyer AP Singh, sought clemency, citing the depleting air quality and water pollution in the city, which has negatively impacted the life span of the citizens.

According to the gangrape convict, there has been a conspiracy against him as he has not yet filed a curative petition. 

Three of the four convicts - Mukesh (29), Pawan Gupta (22) and Vinay Sharma (23) - who are on death row, had filed a review petition against their punishment. 

Amid row over her remarks that girls who wear "revealing clothes and lipstick incite Nirbhaya-like cases, the Kendriya Vidyalaya teacher who made the statement has offered an even more insensitive clarification. 

The 23-year-old paramedical student was brutally gang-raped inside a moving bus in Delhi on December 16, 2012, which led to her death due to internal injuries 13 days later in a Singapore hospital.

The review petition by convicts Vinay Sharma and Pawan Kumar Gupta came after the apex court on December 12 completed the hearing on the review plea filed by another death row convict Mukesh.

The convicts –  Akshay, Pawan, Vijay and Mukesh have challenged the Delhi High Court order which had sentenced the four of them to the gallows.
