Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Opening Date Announced: Commuting between Delhi and Dehradun is about to get significantly easier and faster. What once took around six and a half hours by road will soon take just two to two-and-a-half hours, thanks to the upcoming Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. At present, it takes around 5-7 hours to reach Dehradun from Delhi. The expressway will cut the travel time drastically. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has officially announced the expressway’s opening timeline in the Rajya Sabha. 

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, while attending Zee Bharat's program 'Bharat Ki Udaan', made a significant statement regarding toll tax. He has announced that he will make a big announcement in the next three days. He has also indicated that this announcement is going to be such that everyone will be happy.

Speaking during ‘Bharat Ki Udaan - A Zee Bharat Initiative’ program, Nitin Gadkari also hinted that the government is well aware of the treatment cost linked to the accident victim's hospitalisation and announced a scheme for the same as well. 

The length of India’s National Highway network has surged by 60 per cent in the last 10 years from 91,287 km in 2014 to 146,195 km in 2024, making it the second largest road network in the world, according to official figures. 

Nitin Gadkari said that a new policy will be brought to ease the inconvenience caused by to existing toll policy.

Jorhat-Majuli Bridge: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to intervene and ensure the completion of Jorhat-Majuli Bridge over Brahmaputra.

Gadkari made the statement at the India Today conclave when asked if he could divulge details about his earlier remark that an opposition party leader had offered support if he was ready to take up the post of PM.

Nitin Gadkari stated that he had informed the political leader that he stands firm in his ideology and convictions. 

Nitin Gadkari explained that currently, flying to Dehradun, Chandigarh and Jaipur from Delhi takes around four hours, including the travel time from people's homes and waiting time at the airport.
