It is raining heavily from the mountains to the plains. The Meteorological Department has now issued a high alert for the next 24 hours. There are chances of heavy rains in 20 states of India.
Tourists were stranded in parts of the hill-state, with the loss of infrastructure estimated at between Rs 3,000 crore and Rs. 4,000 crore. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said the state has not seen such heavy rains in the last 50 years.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted "partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers" for Saturday and next five days in Lucknow.
Rains lashed vast swathes of Punjab and Haryana for the fourth consecutive day today, leaving farmers worried about the wheat crop which was set to be harvested next month.
