Olympic host city Tokyo on Wednesday recorded 3,177 new COVID-19 cases, hitting a daily record high for a second straight day as a spike in infections puts pressure on hospitals.

The Olympics in Tokyo is now slated to be held from July 23 to August 8 next year.
