Sri Lanka ended their ODI series with a 140-run win over New Zealand in Auckland, powered by Pathum Nissanka's 66 and Asitha Fernando's 3/26. Despite the victory, New Zealand claimed the series 2-1.

While India were comprehensively beaten in the first ODI even after posting 347 in Hamilton, they came out with improved performance with the ball, only to be undone because of the top-order failure in the second ODI in Auckland.

On the way to his 43rd One Day International century, India captain Virat Kohli created yet another world record as he became the first batsman to score 20,000 international runs in 10 years. On Wednesday, Kohli scored his second consecutive century to help India beat West Indies by six wickets in the third and final ODI of the three-match rubber. 

The series, to be played at neutral venue in United Arab Emirates, will start with the T20 series, first of which is scheduled for September 23.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat in the deciding one-day international against New Zealand in Auckland on Sunday, with the hosts reinforced by the return of captain Brendon McCullum.
