PAN 2.0 Project Benefits And Key Features: The PAN 2.0 Project modernises the taxpayer experience with upgraded PAN cards featuring QR codes, a unified portal, improved security, and eco-friendly operations. It ensures faster services, cost savings, and enhanced grievance redressal, benefiting 78 crore users.
The Permanent Account Number (PAN) is an alphanumeric identifier consisting of ten characters, issued as a laminated card by the Income Tax Department. Notably, the government has not yet announced the rollout date for PAN 2.0, but the initiative is expected to be a major step towards improving taxpayer services and strengthening the digital infrastructure.
Under PAN 2.0, new PAN cards will be issued using the upgraded system, and existing PAN data will be merged into a centralized database.
