Astronaut Paolo Nespoli currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS) took the opportunity to wish everyone on the occassion of Diwali and posted an image of a brightly illuminated India from space on October 19.
Astronauts who have been a part of the space station crew in the past, have all shared beautiful images of auroras seen from the orbiting laboratory, forming a shield-like cover on the Earth's surface.
The new Expedition 52 crew members will spend more than four months conducting approximately 250 science investigations in fields such as biology, Earth science, human research, physical sciences and technology development.
The Soyuz MS-05 spacecraft carrying the new crew is scheduled to lift off on July 28, 2017, at 11:41 a.m. (9:41 p.m. Baikonur time) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The three new ISS crew members include NASA astronaut Randy Bresnik, Sergey Ryazanskiy of Roscosmos and Paolo Nespoli of ESA (European Space Agency).
US astronaut Randy Bresnik, Paolo Nespoli of ESA (European Space Agency), and Sergey Ryazanskiy of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, will be launched to the ISS in the spring of 2017.
