Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on the occasion of Parakram Divas. Along with this, he also named 21 islands, which have been named after 21 Param Vir Chakra winners.

The islands are named after 21 Param Veer Chakra awardees, including Naib Subedar Bana Singh, Captain Vikram Batra, and Lt Manoj Kumar Pandey. Major Somnath Sharma, Subedar and Hony Captain (then Lance Naik) Karam Singh, 2nd Lt.

On August 23, 2007, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the Subhas Chandra Bose memorial hall in Kolkata. Abe said to Bose’s family, 'The Japanese are deeply moved by Bose’s strong will to have led the Indian independence movement from British rule.' Scroll down for some unknown facts about Netaji.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was born on 23 January,1897 in Cuttack, Orissa Parakram Diwas is observed on January 23 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Netaji Bose founded the Azad Hind Fauj, also called the Indian National Army (INA)

Parakram Diwas 2023: According to an official release from the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO), PM Modi would also unveil the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.

At the age of 16, he became fascinated by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and Ramakrishna after reading their works. Vivekananda’s emphasis on social services and reform had inspired Bose and influenced his socialist political ideology. He was a progressive thinker and wanted women to enlist in the Indian National Army to fight for their country.
