A Bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul has although allowed Maharashtra police to continue its probe and asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file an affidavit within one week stating its stand on taking up the investigation in the FIRs registered by Maharashtra Police against Singh.

Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, who was missing for several days, reached Mumbai on Thursday. He said, he has full faith in the judiciary.
Advocate Puneet Bali, who is representing Singh in the Supreme Court, alleged that his client was under pressure to take back his complaint against Deshmukh. Bali also said that the former Police Commissioner had also appealed in Bombay High Court over victimisation after he wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Param Bir Singh, who had accused the then Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption, has alleged frame-up in criminal cases. Besides seeking protection from coercive steps, Singh has sought a CBI probe into the entire issue involving him.
Singh, currently posted as Director General of Home Guards, attended his office last in May, after which he went on leave. The state police had told the Bombay High Court in October that his whereabouts were not known.
