Delhi New CM Race: The BJP thrashed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), securing 48 out of 70 seats, ending the Arvind Kejriwal-led party’s decade-long rule.

The Election Commission declared his win with 25,057 votes, while Kejriwal secured 22,057. Verma, who has assets worth ₹115.6 crore and liabilities of ₹74.4 crore, is expected to influence Delhi’s governance going forward.

Parvesh Verma’s win is seen as a major upset for AAP. His victory against Kejriwal has earned him the tag of a ‘giant killer’ and placed him in the spotlight for a possible chief ministerial role. 

Yogi Adityanath, who held his first poll rally in the national capital on Thursday, threw an open challenge to Kejriwal asking him to take a bath in Yamuna with his ministers.

Taking to social media platform X, Verma launched an attack on the AAP for misleading voters of Delhi by projecting Kejriwal as its chief ministerial face.
