 Dabang Delhi K C clinched the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 trophy by eking out a close 37-36 win over Patna Pirates in the summit clash here on Friday.

Patna Pirates and Tamil Thalaivas shared points after they played out a 30-30 draw in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 at The Sheraton Grand, Whitefield, here on Thursday.

Patna thought they had managed to claw their way back into a tie in the last move of the match when they tackled Surender Gill but the UP raider ensured he got a bonus point in the process to keep that one-point lead alive.

Delhi clinched the all-important All-Out with two minutes left in the match to pull open a lead which their defenders helped maintain.

The Steelers witnessed a collective effort from both their raiders and defenders as Vikas Kandola and Prashant Kumar Rai picked up 13 and eight points.

The 'Dubki King' secured yet another Super 10 (18 raid points) as the Pirates overcame a stiff challenge from Anup Kumar-coached Paltan to secure their third win on the trot.

Ajith Kumar, with a Super 10, was the only positive for the Thalaivas in what was otherwise a horrible day on the mat for the star-studded team.

Shrikanth Jadhav (Super 10 with 10 points), Surender Gill (7 points) and Nitesh Kumar (5 tackle points) were all in form for the UP side who produced an all-round performance to secure an important victory that has them knocking at the doors of a playoff berth sitting in seventh place.  

The third consecutive victory in the home leg for Delhi helped them consolidate their position at the top of the points table.  

Rohit Gulia's Super 10 (10 raid points) turned out to be the gamechanger as Pardeep Narwal's early raiding runs in the game went futile. 

Raider Maninder Singh, with a Super 10 (10 raid points), and defender Rinku Narwal, who impressed with a High 5 (5 tackle points), were the stars for the Bengal Warriors side who forced two All-Outs in a second-half blitzkrieg that took the game away from the Pirates.

Both the former champions went into the match after a patchy run of form with more losses than wins in their previous seven matches of Season 7, but U Mumba's clever strategy finally paid dividends as they edged past a mistake-prone Pirates in a thriller. 

The Jaipur Pink Panthers' defence led by Sandeep Dhull and Amit Hooda did an excellent job on Patna's danger man Pardeep Narwal as they kept him off the mat for 23 minutes 9 seconds.
