The net payroll addition for the 18–25 age group in April 2025 stood at approximately 7.58 lakh, reflecting a 13.60 per cent increase from March.

The ESIC data matches the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) figures released this week which showed a net addition of 14.63 lakh members in November 2024, which represents an increase of 9.07 per cent over the corresponding figure for October.

EPFO Members In 2024: Top five states/UTs constitute around 59.17 per cent of net member addition, adding a total around 10.97 lakh net members during the month.

The payroll data also highlights that approximately 14.15 lakh members exited and subsequently rejoined EPFO. This figure depicts year-over-year growth of 11.79 per cent compared to June 2023. 

The data indicates that around 9.85 lakh new members have enrolled during May 2024.

Gender-wise analysis of payroll data unveils that out of 7.47 lakh new members, around 2 lakh are new female members.

The data further showed that the number of exits in April have declined by 87,821 and rejoining has increased by 92,864 subscribers as compared to March this year. Age-wise comparison of payroll data shows that the age group of 22-25 years has registered the highest number of net enrollments with around 3.27 lakh additions during the month. The members of the 18-25 age group, usually first timers in the job market, have contributed around 43.35 per cent of total net subscriber additions in April.

The data set release was for the period from September 2017 to February 2018.
