Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday led a cycle rally along with opposition MPs towards Parliament to protest the hike in fuel prices. In the Constitution Club of Delhi, Rahul Gandhi also held a meeting with 17 MPs of opposition parties in the morning on the Pegasus espionage case.
To present a united face on the Pegasus spyware issue, leaders of several opposition parties attended a breakfast meeting organized by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi at the Constitution Club on Tuesday. Several opposition MPs reached Parliament on bicycles after the meeting to raise the issue of rising fuel prices.

Women rights activists, human rights defenders, and concerned citizens wrote an open letter to Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana, asking the Supreme Court to declare a ban on the export, sale, transfer, and use of Pegasus spyware in India And the snooping scandal should be investigated.
Opposition parties have been pressuring the government to discuss and investigate allegations of surveillance through Pegasus spyware since the monsoon session began on July 19. On Thursday also, disruptions continued during the business of the Houses. At the same time, the government has demanded the suspension of MPs who tore pamphlets in Lok Sabha and threw them towards the chair of the Speaker.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with 14 opposition parties to chalk out a strategy against the government over the 'Pegasus phone hacking scandal'. Rahul said the prime minister "put a weapon in our phone", used it to "hurt the soul of India's democracy" and now the government is trying to silence the opposition's demands for discussion in Parliament.
As Trinamool member Shantanu Sen snatched the paper from the IT Minister and tore it, the house saw heated exchange between the Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Trinamool MPs, leading to the house being adjourned.
The list of names targeted for tapping in the Pegasus spyware case is getting longer. The names of 14 world leaders, including Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, French President Emmanuel Macron, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, have been included in this list.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament is scheduled to continue till August 13.
The Pegasus spyware is again at the centre of a major controversy. On Sunday, July 18, it was widely reported that documents acquired and evaluated by a international media collaboration showed a list of phone numbers that are claimed to have been potentially targeted for surveillance by an unidentified agency using the Pegasus spyware. It is reported that over 40 journalists in India were targeted alongside a few other public figures like politicians and activists.
