The EPFO, one of the largest social security organisations in the world and has collected over Rs. 3.41 lakh crore in contributions remitted by employers through 1.25 crore electronic challan cum returns till 20th March 2025. 

The ministry further said that the face authentication technology proved particularly beneficial for elderly pensioners with faded fingerprints, differently-abled individuals, and those residing in remote areas. 

Central government is likely to increase dearness allowance (DA) for its over one crore employees and pensioners. The hike may be 4% to 42% from existing 38%. Last revision in DA was done on September 28, 2022, which was effective from July 1, 2022.

The deadline for all government pensioners to submit ‘life Certificate’ or ‘Jeevan Praman Patra’ by November 30, 2022. Now pensioners can get digital life certificates using a web or mobile application ‘Jeevan Pramaan’. The move aims to promote the use of digital life certificates for pensioners through the latest face recognition technology. The objective of a common pension portal is to create a single window digital mechanism for pensioners to raise grievances. All ministries responsible to process, sanction or disburse pension dues are interlinked to this system. Grievances are forwarded after assessment to the concerned ministry or department for resolution, Singh said.

Life certificates can be electronically submitted through the Jeevan Pramaan website (https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/) or the app. In order to participate in the process, one must first download the Jeevan Pramaan smartphone application. If the process seems too complicated, retirees can go to a pension disbursing bank and fill out a form in person.

Dr Jitendra Singh said that the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always sought "ease of living" for all sections of society including the retirees and pensioners who are the nation`s assets with all their experience and long years of service rendered by them.

A life certificate is a vital piece of documentation for retirees, as it serves as verification that they are still alive. Before awarding pensions, the government and insurance companies advise producing this certificate, which is normally required once a year. The rule will take effect on November 1 for persons under the age of 80, with the window remaining open until November 30. The Finance Department has prepared a draft proposal regarding DA and DR hike and sent it to the chief minister’s office for consideration. The final decision in this regard will be taken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. 

Central Government pensioners/family pensioners shall be increased from the existing rate of 17 percent to 28 percent of the basic pension/ family pension with effect from July 1, 2021. The increased rates of Dearness Relief (DR) will be applicable to Civilian Central Government Pensioners/ Family Pensioners including Central Government absorbed pensioners in PSU/ Autonomous Bodies. The Armed Forces pensioners/ family Pensioners and Civilian Pensioners/ Family Pensioners paid out of the Defence Service Estimates.

The government on Wednesday approved to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) benefits to central government employees and pensioners from 17 per cent to 28 per cent.

Centre on Saturday extended the deadline for pensioners to submit their life certificate till February 28, 2021. According to government officials, the move would benefit 35 lakh pensioners. Currently, the last date of submission of JPP anytime during the year is November 30.

The move is likely to benefit nearly 1.12 crore government employees and pensioners.

This centre will also act as pressure on the departments to resolve the problems of the elderly pensioners.

The increase in DA will benefit about 48.41 lakh Central government employees and 61.17 lakh pensioners.
