PAGD seeks the restoration of the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir which was revoked by the Centre in August 2019.
Abdullah said the problem is that people have lost faith. The young feel that they have no place in modern India which has been communalised to the maximum.
Congress also issued a statement and said that it strongly condemns the baseless allegations of Amit Shah and urged him to refrain from doing such dirty politics.
"Old habits die hard. Earlier BJPs narrative was that the tukde tukde gang threatened India’s sovereignty & they are now using ‘Gupkar Gang’ euphemism to project us as anti nationals," Mufti said.
She added, "Irony died a million deaths since its BJP itself that violates the constitution day in & day out."
Mufti also said, "BJPs stale tactic of dividing India by projecting themselves as saviours & political opponents as internal & imagined enemies is far too predictable now."
Shah stated that J&K has been, is and will always remain an integral part of India.
He said that the Indian people will no longer tolerate an unholy ‘global gathbandhan’ against the national interest.
"Either the Gupkar Gang swims along with the national mood or else the people will sink it," said Shah.
Meeting was called to discuss the District Development Council (DDC) elections and to finalise the list of candidates to contest in the rest of the eight-phased polls.
"We stand by the alliance," Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Monga told reporters outside Mufti's residence.
A group of retired bureaucrats, judges and officers from the armed forces said that Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah are misusing their freedom of expression.
They called the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) the "Gupkar Gang".
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Thursday announced the formation of 'People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration' in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NC chief convened a meeting at his residence for chalking out the future course of action on 'Gupkar Declaration' with regard to the special status of J&K.
The special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked by the Centre in 2019.
