Handscomb who played eight seasons at the Melbourne Stars has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Hurricanes.
The 29-year-old Victorian was quoted by the Hurricanes as saying, "I had a good chat with some of the boys I’d played with before, so I’m keen to get down there and play with those guys."
He also expressed, "I’m looking forward to the opportunity to potentially bat in the top four on a beautiful wicket at a nice ground, it’s exciting to be able to come to Hobart and show what I can do."
The move means Middlesex will be Handscomb's fourth county of his career after he was signed by Gloucestershire in 2015, Yorkshire in 2017 and Durham in 2019.
Wade has appeared in a total of 94 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for Australia, amassing 1,777 runs at an average of 25.8 and a strike rate of 82.1.
Marsh has been ruled out of further participation in the tournament due to a fracture to his forearm which he sustained after being struck while practicing in the nets recently.
Short has appeared in just four ODIs for Australia and played his last match for the side in November 2018.
Handscomb struck his maiden ODI hundred to help Australia chase down a record 359 and level the five-match series at 2-2 against India at Mohali.
Turner smashed an unbeaten 84 runs off 43 balls, as Australia chased down a mammoth target of 359 with four wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare, in the 4th ODI against India at Mohali to level the five-match series 2-2.
It was the highest ever total that the Indian team had failed to defend in its ODI history, losing the game by four wickets.
Australia will play their second T20I against India on Wednesday in Bengaluru before the two sides head into five-match ODI series from March 2.
Handscomb was named as wicketkeeper at the expense of vice-captain Alex Carey in the Australian squad for the first T20I against India.
The incident took place during the 16th over of Australia's 127-run chase when Peter Handscomb and D’Arcy Short were batting at their respective scores of 13 and 37.
The 35-year-old cricketer stitched an unbeaten 80-run stand with Tom Cooper as the Renegades posted a total of 145, despite being reduced to 65-5 at one stage.
Marsh returned to training on Monday, with vice-captain Alex Carey indicating that the selectors would see how he fared while bowling in the nets before determining whether he would be available for the Adelaide ODI.
Handscomb said that the criticism was warranted but they will try to change the momentum on an intriguing day five on Monday.
It means that the Stars could be boosted by the return of the wicket-keeper batsman as the former will seek their first win of the season after two defeats at the hands of Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes.
The Test series is currently levelled at 1-1, with India winning the opening Test by 31 runs at Adelaide Oval before Australia bouncing back to clinch a huge 146-run win in Perth.
While Handscomb claimed that he had completed a clean catch, the Indian skipper was not as certain and gestured with his palms upraised while shaking his head.
The Indian run-machine hit his 25th test century, injecting fresh life into India`s reply to Australia`s first-innings total of 326.
Paine also backed opener Aaron Finch who made a three-ball duck and 11 in the first Test in Adelaide, stating that he needed just one score to develop the belief that he can thrive at Test level.
