In what can be called as a huge embarassment to Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government, it has been confirmed that the 150gm of white substance recovered from the state assembly on July 12, was not highly explosive material  PETN (pentaerythritol tetranitrate) but silicon oxide (SiO2).

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government had termed a powder used to polish furniture as PETN explosive to prevent former MLAs from entering the assembly complex.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday registered a case into the recovery of explosives in the Uttar Pradesh assembly earlier this month, an official said.

About 150 grams of the white powdery explosive PETN was found wrapped in a paper close to the seat of the Leader of the Opposition.

Yogi Adityanth-led Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday clarified that the suspicious white powder, which was found inside Vidhan Sabha was not sent Agra forensic laboratory. 

Days after suspicious white powder was found inside Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, the Agra-based forensic lab said that it has found no traces of any explosive in the suspicious white powder, which was believed to be deadly Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN)

"A mockdrill is being conducted to cater to any emergency-like situation and evacuate people during the crictical hour. Apart from this, the mockdrill will also enable us to plug possible loopholes in the security apparatus (if any)," SSP, ATS, Umesh Kumar Srivastava told PTI.

The entry has been prohibited to those who do not have the Assembly pass.  

Days after powerful explosive recovered from Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth on Friday announced few enhanced security measures and urged legislators to follow them. While speaking in the Assembly, Adityanath said  NIA (National Investigation Agency) should be given charge of leading the investigation into the major security lapse. 

In a major security lapse, 60 grams of suspicious white powder was found inside UP Assembly during ongoing session yesterday.  According to the reports, the white powder, PETN- a powerful explosive was kept under a seat of an MLA. Fortunately, the security personnel with the help of dog squad recovered it and avert the big mishap.
