India will start vaccinating children between the ages of 15 to 18 from January 3 next year. "Precaution dose" for healthcare and frontline workers would be administered from January 10. People above 60 years of age who have co-morbidities will also have the option to take the booster dose.

PM Modi made several big announcements amid growing concerns over rising Covid cases linked to the Omicron variant of the virus. In an address to the nation, the PM said the precaution dose will also be available for citizens above 60 years of age and with comorbidities on the advice of their doctor from January 10 next year as well.

The farmers in Noida, Uttar Pradesh called it the victory of the farmers. The farmers in Nashik, Maharashtra too welcomed the decision of repealing the farm laws.

Congress leader said Centre could see in the surveys that the situation is not right so that they have come to apologise before polls. Priyanka Gandhi also questioned the government for being silent when farmers were called as Aandolanjeevi`, goons, terrorists and traitors.

The three laws raised concerns that this will lead to the abolishment of the minimum support price (MSP) guaranteed by the government on select crops and leave farmers at the mercy of big corporates. Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP P Chidambaram on Friday (november 19, 2021) said that the decision of the Centre to repeal the three farm laws is not due to a change in the policy or heart but by the fear of impending elections.

Thousands of farmers had been camping at Delhi border points since November last demanding a repeal of three farm laws — the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

As expectations mounted that the Prime Minister may dwell on plans to restart economic activities in a graded manner.

The ministry has also invoked the National Disaster Management Act which may result in imprisonment of up to two years for any violation.

PM Modi said, "If we don't handle these 21 days well, then our country, your family will go backward by 21 years."
