Nearly Rs 920 crore has already been allocated for various projects under the PMKSY during the 15th Finance Commission period. Both ICCVAI and FSQAI, two major components of the scheme are demand-driven, meaning funds are released based on project proposals received.
According to the Cabinet statement, the scheme will focus on modernising irrigation water supply networks, ensuring water reaches farms from existing canals or other sources in a designated cluster.
The outlay of the scheme is Rs.93,068 crore.
The scheme aims to benefit about 22 lakh farmers.
2.5 lakh SC and 2 lakh ST farmers in the country will benefit from the move.
The allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore and Rs. 3,000 crore will be utilised during 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively.
