Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin News
With an aim to achieve the objective of providing “Housing to All” by the year 2024, the Central Government had rolled out the rural housing scheme --Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) --with effect from 1st April 2016.
The program envisages the completion of 2.95 crore PMAY-G houses with all basic amenities by the year 2024. As on 21st February 2022, a total of 1.73 crores PMAY-G houses have been completed against the allocated cumulative target of 2.62 crore houses.
PM Modi will release financial assistance of around Rs 2691 crores to 6.1 lakh beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin.
Prime Minister Office announced that it will be done via video conferencing at 12 noon.
Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will also be present on the occasion.
PM Modi will participate in ‘Grih Pravesham’ and inaugurate 1.75 lakh houses built under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in MP on September 12.
All of these houses have been built/completed during the current COVID-19 pandemic period. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister will also be present on the occasion.
The government has also decided to continue the Program Management Unit (PMU) and National Technical Support Agency (NTSA) till 2019-20.
A total of 32.14 lakh houses were completed in fiscal 2016-17 out of a total of 44 lakh houses approved for the same period.
