The number of candidates contesting the May 16 Puducherry Assembly polls has risen from 187 in 2011 to 344 this time.
Election authorities here on Saturday found 366 nominations, including that of chief minister N Rangasamy, to be in order at the end of scrutiny of the papers filed by candidates contesting the May 16 Assembly polls in the Union Territory.
The workers were hired in February this year as 'Multi Purpose Workers' on consolidated wage payment scheme.
The Election Commission on Friday issued notification for the May 16 Puducherry Assembly polls.
The BJP is an alliance partner of the ruling AINRC in Puducherry.
