Chennai Rain Holiday News: With the cyclone now having moved past the region, the government is prioritizing restoration efforts to mitigate the damage caused. 

The cyclone Fengal is moving west-northwest and is likely to make landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram near Puducherry on Saturday afternoon.

IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts of Tamil Nadu inculding Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Karaikal area.

Puducherry extended its ongoing lockdown by another week on June 7. Now the curbs will remain in place till June 14. However, the administration has announced the easing of several restrictions.

Puducherry authorities on Saturday announced 14-day complete lockdown in the Union Territory. The lockdown will start from Monday midnight (May 10, 2021). The administration of the Union Territory added that the decision is being taken to break the chain of transmission.
