Pulses trade News
Worried about a further spike in prices of pulses in coming months, the Centre today asked state governments not to levy local taxes like VAT and mandi fees on dals, besides taking stern action against hoarders to boost supply and bring down rates.
Nearly 75,000 tonnes of pulses have been seized from hoarders in raids across 13 states as part of the measures to control the skyrocketing retail prices that have touched up to Rs 210 per kg.
The slide in prices of select pulses continued unabated at the wholesale market in the national capital today following reports of raids by authorities on hoarders and the government's decision to import more lentils to check prices.
