The BJP demanded an apology from the Ludhiana Member of Parliament, saying this reflects the mindset of those who consider themselves part of the dynasty.

Parties including Congress, BJP, BSP and RLD had urged the poll body to reschedule the polls in view of various festivals, saying that it could impact voter turnout.

 Balwinder Dhaliwal is Congress candidate from Phagwara, while Indu Bal has been given ticket from Mukerian. In Dakha, Congress has nominated Sandeep Sandhu, while Raminder Amla is the party's candidate from Jalalabad.
