Quota protest News
The All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) on Thursday threatened to launch a protest if the government fails to give reservation in education and government jobs to members of the community by October 14.
The Jat leaders have threatened to stage a protest in Haryana, demanding reservation and withdrawal of criminal cases against them during the agitation which took place last month.
Haryana saw relative calm for the first time in nine days on Tuesday as Jats seeking job quotas withdrew from the streets or were chased away.
Amid the ongoing Jat agitation, a 90-second audio clip of a purported conversation between a close aide of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and a Khap leader, allegedly to incite violence, has gone viral on the Internet, prompting the BJP government to say it will order an inquiry.
A section of Jat community in Rajasthan on Sunday warned that they would hold a march to Harayana if the quota demand of the agitators in the neighbouring state is not fulfilled.
