Railways have decided to provide the `buy tickets now and pay later` service for any Express trains, an IRCTC official said on Thursday.  

With a number of complaints being received over late running of trains, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has cracked the whip on officials concerned, asking them to improve punctuality rate or "face action".

The service charge exemption on railway tickets booked online has been extended till June 30.  

Railways is launching a new scheme from April 1 under which waitlisted passengers can get confirmed accommodation in the next alternative train if they opt for the option while booking their tickets.

Come April and a passenger can avail the opportunity of travelling in Rajdhani or Shatabdi trains even if he or she has booked tickets in other mail/express trains for the same destinations.  

 In a bid to attract last minute passengers, the railways have revised the flexi fare structure in premier trains by offering 10 per cent rebate on vacant berths after finalisation of the reservation charts.

IRCTC is launching a host of initiatives, including passenger insurance and unreserved ticketing.

Railways is gearing up to introduce a few special services with improved passenger amenities for which the regular fares will not be applicable.

The 'Ticket Jugaad' app is developed by second year IIT Kharagpur student Jaju and his cousin Shubham Baldava, who studies in NIT Jamshedpur.
