Union Cabinet approves the grant of non-productivity linked bonus for non-gazetted railway employees.
Payment of PLB to eligible railway employees is made each year before Dusshera/Puja Holidays.

The Modi government has given a huge gift to the central employees. The Union Cabinet has decided to give 78 days performance linked bonus to railway employees. Recently, the government had announced a 4% increase in dearness allowance for central employees.
About 11.27 lakh non-gazetted Railway employees are likely to benefit from the decision. This payment will be made before Dussehra/Puja holidays, bringing smile to lakhs of families ahead of the festive season, said an official release.
Government for the past couple of years has been announcing payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days wages for eligible non-gazetted railway employees (excluding RPF/RPSF personnel). This year will be the ninth consecutive year that the Modi government will maintain a bonus of 78 days wages.
This is the seventh year in a row that 78-days' wages are given as PLB to railway employees.
The railway employees on deputation to any other organisation, including railway PSUs, would also continue to be eligible for optional LTC in lieu of Privilege Pass entitlement.
The Railways seems set to lost 1 percent of its total workforce.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 78-day wage is expected to be around Rs 18,000 per employee.
Ahead of the festive season, railway employees are likely to get 78-day wages as bonus this year, the same as in the last four years despite the financial crunch.
