The NFR operates in the northeastern states and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of north Bihar.

The RPF of Indian Railways has disrupted the operation of illegal software called “Real Mango” used for cornering confirmed railway reservation. Field units of RPF have been able to apprehend 50 criminals so far including the Kingpin (system developer) and key managers involved in the operation. Five key operatives of the illegal software have been arrested from West Bengal.

The Delhi Police Railway Unit has arrested a man, posing as a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, for smuggling cannabis. The man, identified as Rohit, was arrested on August 24 by the police at the New Delhi railway station with 72 kg of cannabis. At around 11.30 am, the Railway Police noticed that a man had a large trunk and when he was asked about it, he could not give an answer to the police.

RPF Director General Arun Kumar said, "Recently we arrested seven people, including Kolkata-based Jayanta Poddar, who was in touch with JUMB operatives."

The shocking incident occurred when the taxi driver was relaxing on a bench at the P. D'Mello Road, near the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) last evening.

The number of chain pulling incidents reported in 2019 was 55,373 and the  RPF arrested 45,784 people and prosecuted 43,951, according to the latest figures released by the Indian Railways.
