Samson’s rapid-fire innings set the tone for Rajasthan Royals eventual 16-run victory over MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday (September 22). He also took two catches and completed two fantastic stumpings of consecutive deliveries to land the final nail in the coffin and capture the victory for Rajasthan - deservingly being given the man of the match award.

An emphatic all-round performance powered Rajasthan Royals to a 16-run victory over Chennai Super Kings. The match was the first high-scoring encounter of IPL 2020 with both sides crossing the 200-run mark. Being put in to bat, Sanju Samson's brilliant 74 off 32 balls and Steven Smith's 69 set the tone for the Royals as they reached a massive total of 216 against a wayward Chennai bowling. A late counter-attack from Faf du Plessis wasn't enough for the Super Kings as they ambled along in the middle overs. CSK finished at 200/6 from their allotted 20 overs. All in all, it was a brilliant start to the tournament for Rajasthan Royals who can only get better from here with the likely additions of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes in their lineup.

In the match 4 of IPL 2020, Rajasthan Royals will clash with Chennai Super Kings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE on Tuesday (September 22). This will be RR’s opening game of the tournament while MS Dhoni led-CSK have already kick-started their IPL 2020 campaign with a five-wicket victory over defending champions MI in the tournament opener. Skipper Steve Smith's return will come as a huge boost for Rajasthan Royals but they will still miss the firepower of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes for the opening encounter.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, lifted the coveted trophy in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2018 after beating CSK in the final, while they made it to playoffs in 2013, 2015 and 2018. The 2020 IPL is slated to take place from September 19 to November 10 across three venues in UAE namely Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai. Rajasthan Royals will kickstart their campaign in the 13th edition of the IPL against CSK on September 22 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
