The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) on Tuesday left the official interest rates untouched at two percent for the fifth consecutive month.
The U.S. dollar hovered close to an 11-year high against a basket of currencies while Asian shares firmed in early trade on Tuesday, with sentiment bolstered by another record day on Wall Street.
The Reserve Bank of Australia flagged "a period of stability" in the cash rate as it cautioned that economic growth would likely be "a little below trend" in the year ahead.
Tokyo`s Nikkei fell 0.2 percent and mainland Chinese shares slipped 0.5 percent from a seven-month high hit just before the data.
