Today the court accepted that even a Brahmin can be poor and they should also get reservation on economic basis. Today, court dismissed the petitions filed against it, considering government's decision to give 10 percent reservation to the economically weaker general category people as right. The Supreme Court has given its decision on the 10 percent reservation given to the general category on the basis of EWS i.e. economic basis. Supreme Court's five-judge bench has different opinions on EWS reservation. 3 judges have given verdict in support of reservation. Therefore, the reservation will continue. Congress leader Udit Raj has made objectionable remarks against the Supreme Court expressing displeasure over the historic decision of the Supreme Court regarding EWS reservation. The Congress leader has termed the Supreme Court itself as casteism.

After the Supreme Court's decision of EWS, BJP General Secretary BL Santosh has welcomed the decision by tweeting. He wrote that the Supreme Court upheld the validity of EWS for the unreserved classes. Also he has written that another big credit to PM Modi.

In Amit Shah's first reaction after the Supreme Court's EWS decision, he said that the Modi government introduced 10 percent reservation for non-reserved castes. This decision has been welcomed by the people of the society.
