Amid the ongoing Jat agitation, a 90-second audio clip of a purported conversation between a close aide of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and a Khap leader, allegedly to incite violence, has gone viral on the Internet, prompting the BJP government to say it will order an inquiry.

The Patel community in Gujarat, agitating for reservations, will go on an indefinite fast in all district headquarters from the first week of the new year to pressurise the state government to release their leader Hardik Patel, who is in custody on sedition charges.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday hit out at Anna Hazare over his remarks on reservation, saying the veteran social activist is in the same league as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah who are against the poor, backward and Dalits.

Amidst demands for reservation in the country, the NDA government has said these have to be taken "seriously" while striving for a solution to the issue through debate.
