Another win against Braga at home in the next round in November will guarantee Real Madrid a spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage for the 28th consecutive time.

Since winning its last Copa del Rey in 2014, the 14-time European Cup winners had won four Champions Leagues while falling short in the Spanish cup. That changed on Saturday.

Five minutes into extra time Karim Benzema converted a penalty awarded for a foul on him by Ruben Dias and Real Madrid, the record 13-times European champions, held the shell-shocked English side Manchester City at bay to reach the final.
