In 2018, the five-judge bench of the apex court had allowed women of all ages to enter Sabarimala Temple in Kerala.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India S A Bobde made these observations while passing an order on a petition filed by two activists -- Bindu Ammini and Fathima A S -- seeking safe passage for women inside the shrine.
The five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, along with Justices Indu Malhotra, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Rohinton Nariman, heard the review petitions filed on the top court`s September 28, 2018 judgement which had lifted a ban on entry of women aged between 10 and 50 years to the Sabarimala temple.
The BJP-led NDA has over the years increased its vote share in the state and this time there has been a huge morale booster following its Sabarimala stand.
