Information Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that a detailed discussion took place during the cabinet meeting over the Supreme Court judgment that made certain suggestions on the reservation for the SCs and STs.

Chairing a committee at the party`s convention, senior party leader former Union Minister Ambika Soni proposed the amendment to this constitution.

License for the DTH will be issued for a period of 20 years in place of the present 10 years. License fee has been revised from 10% of GR to 8% of AGR. A three-judge bench today set aside the order and observed that the apex court should not have ventured to frame guidelines as it comes within the domain of legislatures.

The reservation system which started as a measure to bring the backward classes on the same pedestal as their upper caste counterparts has time and again been used by parties for political gains. The debate over reservation was stirred yet again after the Union Cabinet on Monday approved 10 per cent reservation for economically backward in the general category.
