"If they are proven guilty then they`ll be duly punished as per rules for bringing the game into disrepute. But if they come out clean then the PCB would accept the decision of the tribunal and will not contest the verdict."
Khalid Latif, another accused in the spot-fixing scandal, did not manage to make an appearance at the hearing citing health reasons. He has now been asked to appear before the tribunal on March 31.
Despite the losses of Sharjeel and Irfan, another regular in the limited overs` sides, Arthur was upbeat about the team`s chances on the upcoming West Indies tour.
Besides Shahzaib, two other Pakistan batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have also decided to contest the charges laid out against them by the Board and the PCB has already formed a three-member tribunal to hear their cases.
Shahzaib has been charged with violations of Code Articles 2.1.4, 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 and now has 14 days to respond to the Notice of Charge
The left-hander was also suspected of spot-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League two years back but managed to escape without any punishment and went on to make his last appearance for Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup
