The assailants had sprayed bullets on 28-year-old Moosewala in Jawahar Ke village after waylaying his vehicle. At least three weapons were used and thirty empty cases were found from the site. 

Gangsters had been doing recce to kill famed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala for more than a year, they were only looking for a chance to execute their plan, sources have revealed to IANS. The gansters wanted to avenge the death of Vikramjit Singh Middukhera, a Youth Akali Dal (YAD) leader.

The 27-year-old singer, also a Congress leader, was killed a day after the state government curtailed his security cover. 

Sidhu Moosewala was killed in Punjab's Mansa district. Punjab SSP said that several bullets hit Moosewala, who was in his jeep at village Jawahar Ke when he was attacked. 

According to reports, Punjabi singer Mankirt Aulakh had increased his security after receiving threat calls from the Canada-based gang. He has reportedly received fresh death threats from gangsters. 

Moosewala, 27, had fought on the Congress ticket from Mansa assembly seat in the recent assembly election and was defeated by AAP's Vijay Singla. Leaders of Congress and other political parties expressed shock and anger over his killing.

Leaders of the Congress and other political leaders expressed shock and anger over the killing of Moosewala and attacked the AAP government for withdrawing his security cover.

Moosewala's security was cut down by the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab on Saturday (May 28). Moosewala had four police gunmen on his security, out of which two were withdrawn.
