Gold price also saw a significant increase. According to IBJA, the price of 24-carat gold rose by Rs 612 to Rs 99,508 per 10 grams on Tuesday from Rs 98,896 the day before.
In the previous trade, it had closed at Rs 48,413 per 10 gram.
Silver dipped marginally by Rs 15 to Rs 70,521 per kilogram from Rs 70,536 per kilogram in the previous trade.
In the international market, gold was trading with gains at USD 1,905 per ounce.
Gold prices rose by Rs 250 to Rs 30,500 for 10 grams at the bullion market.
Silver prices recovered by Rs 50 to Rs 42,250 per kg at the bullion market on Monday, tracking a firm trend overseas amid increased offtake by consuming industries at domestic spot market.
Gold eased off a near two-year high, while silver breached the $21 level for the first time since July 2014 in highly volatile trade on Monday, prompted by a burst of short-covering in China.
Gold prices retreated from over two-month highs by falling Rs 165 to Rs 26,385 per ten gram.
Silver, however, recovered by Rs 100 to Rs 36,800 per kg.
