India's smartphone market shipments declined by 21 percent (year-on-year), during Q1 2023.
Make in India shipment grew by 16 % in Q1 of this FY.
Oppo led with a 24% share followed by Samsung and Vivo.
Lava led feature phone segment with a 21% share.
The top five vendors of the year were Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Realme and Oppo.
The handset market in the country fell by almost 2% YoY with 150 million units.
On handsets, IDC added that MediaTek processor-based smartphone shipments led with a share of 43%, closely followed by Qualcomm at 40%.
A new report from research firm Strategy Analytics showed on Saturday (March 21) that global smartphone shipments plunged as much as 38% year-on-year in February, 2020 due to coronavirus outbreak. It was the biggest fall recorded ever in the history of the smartphone market across the globe.
