A new update to the photo-sharing app Snapchat that allows certain users to track down your exact location is raising privacy concerns for parents and child safety advocates.

As the shares of Snap Inc -- the parent company of Snapchat app -- dropped nearly four percent on Wednesday, analysts said the company`s daily active user growth might slow down in the second quarter this year.

It wasn`t the day Snap Inc -- the parent company of Snapchat -- had planned. In its first quarterly earning report after going public in March, the company saw growth slipping to its lowest in the past two years, reporting 166 million users at a growth rate of a mere 5 percent.

Facebook Inc is giving the camera a central place on its smartphone app for the first time, encouraging users to take more pictures and edit them with digital stickers that show the influence of camera-friendly rival Snapchat.

Snapchat announced a new feature that enables users to save and share their content, a big change for the popular social messaging app widely used for sending photos and videos that disappear in a day.

With one-handed zoom feature, snapchatters can now just drag up from the capture button with the same finger to capture a video.  

 In its new update, photo and video messaging application Snapchat has increased the character limit to "more than double" for captions on the photos.

Snapchat Inc might expand its service to videos, news articles and advertisements.
