Inter-ministerial panel Telecom Commission (TC) on Wednesday decided to send back Trai proposals on spectrum sharing and trading guidelines as it seeks more clarification on certain issues.
High 3G spectrum base price of Rs 3,705 crore recommended by inter-ministerial panel Telecom Commission and less quantum of airwaves being put for auction will adversely impact development Indian mobile networks, global telecom body GSM Association said Thursday.
Telecom Ministry will this week place before the Cabinet for approval the 3G spectrum base price for the auction planned in February.
In 2010, the final 3G spectrum rate paid by telecom operators was Rs 3,349.87 crore per megahertz.
Government in 2010 had auctioned 3G spectrum at pan-India reserve price of Rs 3,500 crore per megahertz.
The government plans to conduct 3G spectrum auction along with 2G radiowaves sale in February.
Government is likely to take a call this month on the base price of spectrum to be auctioned in February next year.
