Sperm whale News
A sperm whale found dead in a national park in Indonesia had nearly six kilogrammes (13.2 lbs) of plastic waste, including 115 cups, in its stomach, park officials said on Tuesday.
It has been revealed that most of the waste was plastic, prompting local authorities to crack down on illegal dumping into ocean waters.
Scientists have recorded thousands of hours of "clicks" that sperm whales make to forage for food and communicate, helping them better understand the behaviour of one of the Southern Ocean`s key predators.
As per reports, the almost 50-feet long carcass was discovered by 37-year-old local resident Asrul Tuanakota near Iha village in West Seram district on Tuesday evening.
The photographs showed people getting close to the whale, climbing atop its vast body and smiling away for a photo-op.
