Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry will be held in a single phase on April 6
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will initiate the candidate selection for Kerala assembly polls after seat-sharing with Left Democratic Front (LDF) is finalised, said State Transport Minister and NCP leader AK Saseendran.
Saseendran said the key factor while choosing the candidate will be their chances of victory in the upcoming polls.
Asked if the facility would be available in the five assembly polls, Arora said, "No."
Arora was addressing a press conference to announce the dates of elections to the five assemblies.
CM Mamata Banerjee alleged that it was a part of a "conspiracy" by the Centre's ruling BJP and accused PM Modi and Amit Shah.
Banerjee alleged that BJP was misusing its authority as the ruling party to influence state polls.
According to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, the nationwide vaccination drive has made the situation more conducive for conducting elections.
All poll officials will be vaccinated before the elections, Arora said.
CEC Sunil Arora said, "Vaccination drive has made the situation more conducive for elections, everyone on poll duty declared frontline worker for vaccine purpose."
He also said, "Door-to-door campaigning to be restricted to five persons including a candidate, roadshows can be held."
