Surya Grahan 2021 News
In India, people usually prefer to stay indoors and not consume any food items during the time of the Grahan or eclipse. Parts of southern Africa, including locations in South Africa and Namibia, will see a partial solar eclipse.
A Solar Eclipse takes place when the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth and casts a shadow on Earth, fully or partially blocking the Sun's light in some areas.
On Saturday, December 4, the last Surya Grahan or Solar Eclipse of this year will begin at 10:59 am.
Those who are based in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh will be able to see this rare astronomical phenomenon. They will start witnessing the solar eclipse at 12:25, as per the map published by NASA.
When it's a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon, however, in partial and annular eclipses, only part of the Sun is obscured.
The first solar eclipse of the year 2021 will occur on Thursday (June 10)
Incidentally, Jyeshtha Amavasya and Shani Jayanti also fall on the same day as the eclipse or Surya Grahan
As per Hindu beliefs, this day is supposed to be inauspicious and carry negative energy
When the Moon's diameter appears smaller than the Sun's, it blocks most of the Sun's light, making it look like an annulus i.e in the form of a ring.
