The BJP's Punjab unit has extended support to the Amarinder Singh government on the critical Sutlej Yamuna Link canal issue, as well as other significant matters in Punjab.

The Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday decided to denotify the land acquired for the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal project with immediate effect and return it to its owners free of charge.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court`s verdict in the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal row, wherein it declared the legislation passed by the Punjab Government as null and void, saying it is a positive step for the people of Haryana as they truly deserve this.

The Punjab Government on Wednesday returned all the funds (Rs 191.75 crore) received for the proposed Sutlej Yamuna link (SYL) canal to the Haryana Government.
