Sri Lanka must prosecute war crimes committed during the long civil war with Tamil rebels to win the confidence of the Tamil minority.

 A former high ranking cadre from the Tamil Tiger outfit was arrested by Sri Lanka's Terrorism Investigation Division (TID), the media reported on Tuesday.

The Sri Lankan president has also promised to end corruption, rebalance foreign policy by reducing Rajapaksa's focus on China, and ensure the independence of the judiciary and civil service.
