Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism KJ Alphons said that 17 sites in 12 clusters in the country will be developed under Iconic Tourist Sites Development Project

Thailand`s tourism body expects 300,000 visitors from China during the Lunar New Year holidays, a nearly 18 percent rise from a year ago. 

The BJP has no plans to impose a food code or food emergency in any state including Kerala, new Tourism Minister K.J. Alphons said on Monday.

"The perception about India has changed significantly in the last two years with Prime Minister Modi visiting a host of countries during the period. So, who else could be the better face for Indian tourism than our Prime Minister," Sharma had said.

The tourism ministry and the ESOI published the 'Sustainable Tourism Criteria for India' two years ago and carried it to the grassroots through advocacy workshops. 

The tourism ministry on Monday launched a round-the-clock toll-free infoline in 12 international languages for the benefit of both international and domestic tourists.

Amid ongoing controversy over the removal of actor Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador for 'Incredible India' campaign, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari is learnt to have called the actor a "Deshdrohi" (traitor) during a parliamentary standing committee for tourism, culture and transport on Friday.

Union Minister of State for Culture & Tourism Dr. Mahesh Sharma stated on Wednesday that Aamir ceases to be the face of the campaign because his contact has expired.

The Union Tourism Ministry on Thursday accepted the resignation of Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) chairman Mahesh Rangarajan.

Narula has succeeded Girish Shankar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, who also held additional charge as ITDC's Managing Director, according to release issued here.

Officials from Tourism Ministry and the department of disinvestment in the Finance Ministry are expected to meet soon to decide the way forward, official sources said.

Union Tourism Ministry said that the visa-on-arrival facility, which is being mulled for large number of countries might become redundant once e-visa facility is introduced.
