Indian Railways cancels several trains due to maintenane work, check list

At least four trains plying on Northern Railway were cancelled on Monday due to operations reasons in several states of northern India, Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway said.

The Met department has predicted that the weather will remain two to three degrees below normal for most parts of this week. Foggy conditions - especially in the wee hours - could intensify.

Heavy fog on Wednesday continues to disrupt train services in the national capital.

The dense fog forces drivers to slow down train speeds up to 15 kmph as a safety requirement — resulting in delays ranging between four and 22 hours.

At least 19 trains were delayed and nearly 17 were cancelled after a blanket of fog engulfed the national capital and adjoining areas on Sunday morning. 

Cold and foggy conditions continued to prevail in north India on Thursday which led to delay in services of 70 north-bound trains.

Eight flights from the Indira Gandhi International Airport were cancelled.
